After completing his medical studies at the University of Münster, Prof. Dr. Marcus Hoffmann worked as a medical officer for the German Armed Forces at the NATO Allied Command Transformation in Mons, Belgium (SHAPE).
Following his service, he worked as a research associate in the field of Public Health at the renowned Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Bielefeld. He then completed clinical training in internal medicine and trauma surgery/sports orthopedics (Prof. Dr. Peter Habermeyer) and volunteered with the German Armed Forces in Afghanistan during the ISAF mission. Afterward, he spent several years working for the European joint venture of Sanofi Pasteur and Merck, eventually serving as head of marketing, HPV vaccine for the prevention of cervical cancer.
He then held a position as a consultant to the Managing Medical Director of Heidelberg University Hospital (Prof. Dr. J. Rüdiger Siewert). From this position, he was offered a tenured professorship at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) and established the first degree program in Physician Assistant studies. He served as member of the joint working group "Academic Health Professions" of the German Medical Association (BÄK) and the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV), which developed the groundbreaking concept paper "Physician Assistant - A New Profession in German Healthcare.”
Hoffmann is a founding member and president of the non-profit European Physician Assistant/Associate Collaboration (EuroPA-C). He is sought after as a subject matter expert in numerous accreditation processes for study programs and as a consultant for universities and healthcare organizations both domestically and internationally.
Hoffmann is a professor of healthcare management and heads his own research center for Public Health. With a successful degree from Dresden International University, he holds a Master of Laws (Medical Law, LL.M.) and is well-versed in the central fields of medicine from a legal perspective. He is currently seconded as the director of the Academy of Mannheim University Hospital GmbH and serves as the president of VICTORIA | International University, headquartered in Berlin, Germany.
